Operation at Jhenidah ‘militant den’ ends
Jhenidah: The operation 'Southpaw' conducted by law enforcers, including the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), at 'Neo JMB militant hideout' at Porahati village in Sadar upazila concluded on Saturday.
During the drive, they recovered four bombs weighing 8-10 kg each, 20 containers of hydrogen peroxide, nine suicidal belts, three suicidal vests, 100 ball bearing, one ricecooker bomb, 16 jihadi books, one motorcycle, one machetes, said deputy inspector general (DIG) of police of Khulna range Didar Ahmed, who led the operation, at a press briefing after the five-hour operation.
Besides, one foreign made pistol, seven bullets, huge electric circuits, explosive substances and bomb-making materials were also found, he said.
The neo JMB members used to use the house owned by 'militant' Abdullah for bomb making, he said adding that high-level leaders of militants from different parts of the country used to come to the house.
However, he did not disclose the names of the leaders for the sake of investigation.
Nearly 400 members of law enforcement agencies, including some 30 CTTC members, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), Khulna range police, Jhenidah Police, took part in the operation. 
They started the operation around 9:30am and ended it around 2pm, he said.
The law enforcers condoned off the house of converted Muslim Abdullah at Porahati village on Friday afternoon suspecting it to be a militant den.
Later, the local administration imposed section 144 at Porahati village.
Abdulllah converted to Muslim five years ago and he along with his wife used to live in the house, said local people.
However, law enforcers did not find any person in the house during the drive, said police.
A case was filed with Sadar Police Station.
