BNP has formed 51 teams with senior leaders to strengthen its organisational capacity across the country and rejuvenate the rank and file before hitting the streets with its demand for holding the next polls under a neutral administration.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the disclosure at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, reports UNB.

‘The teams will hold workers’ meeting in every district and discuss issues relating to national politics and organisational activities,’ he said.

The BNP leader said the 51 teams will oversee the activities of the party’s 75 organisational districts and give them necessary directions to reinforce their activities.

Of the 51 teams, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was given the charge of taking care of Dhaka north, south and Manikganj units, while standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain Chittagong city, and its south and north units, Mirza Abbas Barisal city and its south and north units, Gayeshwar Chandra Rajshahi city and district units, Abdul Moyeen Khan Noakhali and Laxmipur units and Amir Kharsu Mahmud Chowdhury Sylhet city and district units.

The other teams were formed headed by party’s 19 vice chairmen, 10 chairperson’s advisers, the senior joint secretary general, six joint secretaries general, five organising secretaries, party’s special secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon, publicity secretary Shaheeduddin Chowdhury Anee and Jhenidah district president Moshiur Rahman.

Rizvi said the heads of the teams along with some other central leaders will visit the districts they were given charge.

Party sources said the 51 teams will rejuvenate its grassroots leaders and activists and give them necessary directives to take preparation simultaneously for the next election and a decisive movement to force the government to hold the polls under a neutral administration.

As the elections to six city corporations are likely to be held in mid-June next year, the teams will specially take care of those city units to ensure BNP’s success there replicating the strategy it used in Comilla city polls.

The next general election is to be held in January 2019, while that to Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal and Gazipur and Rangpur city corporations in the middle of next year.
