Dhaka: Police recovered a six-year-old child named Sumaiya from the Jurain area of Dhaka in the early hours of Thursday, 25 day after she was kidnapped.

The law enforcers also held two people for their alleged involvement in the abduction.

However, the Kamrangirchar police duty official said the arrestees are Fatema Akhter Brishti, and Sirajul Islam Babul.

Sumaiya’s father, Jakir Hossain, told NTV Online, his daughter was rescued from Rahmatbag area of Jurain under Kadamtali police station at about 3:00am on Thursday. She is now at police custody.

The police said based on information, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive at a Kamal Mia’s resident in Rahmantbagh area of Jurain and found Sumaiya from the room of Sirajul Islam, a renter of the house, early on Thursday.

Earlier, on 2 April, Sumaiya went missing from the Kamrangirchar area of Dhaka. A case was filed with the Kamrangirchar police in this connection.

Following interrogation, police rescued Sumaiya, a six‐year‐old girl and daughter of Jakir Hossain, from the house.

While briefing reporters, Ibrahim Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Lalbagh police, said Sabina, who was a neighbour of Sumaiya, went to her house and picked her up in absence of her mother.

Checking a CCTV footage installed near their house police came to know that Sabina took the girl away.
