Girl Sumaiya abduction: 2 to be quizzed
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday placed two alleged abductors on a three-day police custody for interrogation in connection with the alleged abduction of a minor girl.
Those sent to police custody are Sabina Akter Brishti and Siraj Miah alias Babul.
Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order after sub-inspector Md Sirajul Islam of Kamrangirchar Police Station produced them before the court seeking 10 days remand.
Earlier, police rescued the minor girl from Rahmatbagh Dakkhin Dania in the city's Kadamtali area in the early hours of Thursday, 23 days after she was abducted from Kamrangirchar.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at a house in the area around 3am and arrested Sabina and Babul for their alleged involvement in the abduction.
Following interrogation, police rescued Sumaiya, a five-year-old girl and daughter of Jakir Hossain, from the house.
Briefing reporters, Ibrahim Khan, Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said Sabina, who was a neighbour of Sumaiya, went to her house and picked her up in absence of her mother on April 3.
Getting no whereabouts of Sumaiya, her parents filed a case with Kamrangirchar Police Station.
Analysing the footage of CCTV camera installed near their house, police came to know that Sabina took the girl away.
