Chittagong: A court here on Thursday sentenced a young man to 17 years' imprisonment for possessing a firearm.

The convict is Nurul Alam.

According to the prosecution, a team of police arrested Nurul Alam from Ichhaikar Pool near Kalamia Bazar under Bakalia Police Station in the city along with an LG and a rifle bullet on May 17, 2013.

Later, sub-inspector Abdul Karim filed a case against him under the Arms Act.

After examining the records and witnesses, Judge of Chittagong Special Tribunal-7 MS Bilkis Akter delivered the verdict.
