Savar: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held three members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB) in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Thursday night.

The RAB officials claimed the arrestees were close aide to slain JMB leader Tamim Chowdhury.

RAB-4 Company Commander Major Abdul Hakim said three people were held in bus at Rajphulbaria bus stand in Savar on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at about 9:00pm.

RAB said a check-post led by Major Abdul Hakim was established at Rajphulbaria bus stand on Thursday night. The law enforcers deployed at the check post conducted a raid at Dhaka-bound Villageline Paribahan bus and arrested three suspected JMB members.

The elite force members also seized bomb-making materials, propagandist books, pistols, and bullets from the detainees.

The RAB official said primarily it has been believed that the arrestees are militants. The detainees have been taken for quizzing at RAB office. Details about the arrest will be announced in a press conference.
