Dhaka: Law Minister Anisul Huq on Wednesday said the concern and confusion over section 57 of the ICT Act will be removed in the proposed Digital Security Act.

He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat at his office.

"I told you a year ago that the concern over the misuse of section 57 of the ICT Act will be removed, and I'm repeating it today. The draft Digital Security Bill now awaits vetting, and the concern over the section will be removed there," the minister said.

He said the present government has no intention to curb the freedom of expression.

Replying to a query about the Chief Justice's remarks made in Bogra that the judiciary is yet to be fully independent, Anisul declined to make any comment about it, saying, "If I have anything to say, I'll talk to him."

About the outcome of the meeting with the US envoy, he said they discussed the friendly relations between the two countries as a routine work.
