Dhaka: A local Awami League leader was shot and wounded allegedly by a Juba League leader in the city’s Bangsal area on Monday.

Injured Haji Md Ripon, organizing secretary of AL Ward-35, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police said when Ripon, a resident of Malitola Lane under Bangsal thana, was sitting in a foam shop some miscreants appeared there and shot Ripon, leaving him injured at about 1:00pm.

He received two bullets in his leg and another in his right hand.

Haji Md Luvlu, brother of Ripon, alleged that Juba League secretary of the same Ward Ashiqur Rahman Ashique and his associates opened fire on Ripon following previous enmity of the city corporation elections.
