Acid‐burnt worker dies at DMCH
Dhaka: A port handling worker, who sustained severe burn injuries while loading a drum of acid into a truck, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday afternoon after fighting with death for 14 days.
The diseased Iakub Ali, in his forties, of Putkhali union of sadar upazila, was also a member of workers’ union, deputy director of Benapole port, Aminul Islam said.
Earlier on 20 April, Iakub received severe burn injuries while he along with other workers was loading drums of acid liquor into a truck in the port area, he said.
Accidentally, one of the acid‐loaded drums fell on the ground and exploded, leaving Iakub and his fellow worker Ashraf Ali injured seriously, he added.
The duo was rushed to Jessore Medical College and Hospital. Later, they were shifted to DMCH as their conditions deteriorated, he said.
