War Crimes: Charges framed against 4 Moulvibazar men

Moulvibazar: The International Crime Tribunal framed two charges against the four Moulvibazar men for allegedly committing crimes against the humanity during the Liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Anawarul Haque pressed the charge on Sunday against Akmal Ali Talukdar, a resident of Rajnagar upazila, Abdur Nur Takuldar, alias Lal Mia, Mohammad Anis Mia and Abdul Moshabbir Mia, a resident of the same upazila.

One of them, Akmal Ali Talukdar, landed in jail when police arrested him from Panchagram village of the upazila in November 26, 2016 and three other accused are till now absconding in this case.

The tribunal also fixed July 4, for starting trial with the open statement of the prosecution. The formal trial begins against them pressing those charges.

They are allegedly involving with the crimes against the humanity in the area like mass killing, raped, arson, looting, and abduction during Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

The tribunal had fixed April 17, last year for forming the charges against the accused.

On May 30 of last year the tribunal accepted the charges against them.

In March 23, of last year the investigation agency publish the final investigation report.

In the report they are accused with the crime of killing 61 men of the area, raping six women, abducting seven people, arson and looting 132 houses of 102 families.
