Trader killed in Mirpur road crash
Dhaka: A grocery trader was killed as a motorcycle hit him while crossing the road at Mirpur in Dhaka on Monday night.
The deceased is Abul Khayer, in his fifties, a resident of the village of Chamta at Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur. He used to live in Shah Alibagh area of Mirpur along with his family.
Abul Khayer’s son Habibur Rahman said his father has a grocery shop at South Bishil area. A motorcycle hit him from behind as he was returning home and crossed the road in front of Adarsha Bidyaniketon at South Bishil of Darus Salam in Mirpur at about 11:00pm.
Habibur said his father was left critically injured during the accident. Primarily he was taken to a local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he died undergoing treatment at about 1:00am.
DMCH police box sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the body was kept at the hospital’s morgue.
