Verdict against 6 Gaibandha war crimes accused any day
Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal will deliver its judgment any day against six war crimes accused of Gaibandha, including former MP Abu Saleh Mohammad Abdul Aziz alias Ghoramara Aziz.
The three-member ICT, led by Justice Anwarul Haque, kept the verdict as Curia Advisari Vult after closing the law-point arguments from the both sides.
Prosecutor Sayedul Haq Sumon and Sheikh Mushfiq Kabir demanded highest punishment to the accused, saying they had been able to probe the allegations against them.
Earlier, on March 6, the prosecution pressed formal charges against the alleged war criminals from Gaibandha in cases filed for their crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The five other suspected war criminals are Ruhul Amin alias Manju, Abu Muslim Mohammad Ali, Nazmul Huda, Abdur Rahim and Abdul Latif of Sundarganj in Gaibandha.
Of them, Abdul Latif is now behind the bars while the rest have been on the run.
Various charges, including murder, rape, looting, arson and torture, were brought against the accused.
