Misunderstanding led to border firing: Minister
Dhaka: State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan said misunderstanding led to the firing of Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
He came out with the remarks while talking to journalists at the ministry of home affairs in the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier in the morning BGP opened fire at a BGB patrolling troops and left a BGB member injured. BGP members also picked up a BGB member, nayek Abdur Rajjak.
Assaduzzaman said the firing between BGB and BGP was an accident.
‘The firing occurred as a misunderstanding raised among the border forces as the BGB members were patrolling in the bank of River Naf while the Myanmer border security force was patrolling the other side of the river,’ said the minister.
The state minister said, ‘One of our BGB members is undergoing treatment in Myanmer. We will bring him back through a flag meeting.’
