Mother, son among four electrocuted to death

Bhola: Four people, including a woman and her son, were electrocuted to death as an live electric wire fell into a pond at Uttar Joynagar village in Daulatkhan upazila on Sunday.

The deceased were Sufia Begum, 35, and her son Rahmatullah, 10, Sweety, 13, and Foyez, 18, of Munshi Beparibari in the village.

Quoting the family members, officer-in-charge of Daulatkhan Police Station Enayet Kabir said class III student Rahmatullah and class VIII girl Sweety went down to a pond nearby their house in the afternoon to take bath.

The boy and girl suffered injuries after they came in contact with a live electric wire of high voltage that accidentally fell into the water.

Sufia and Foyez tried to recover the two children from the pond but felt the electric shock as soon as they put their feet in. Sufia dead on the spot and Foyaz suffered injuries.

Locals managed to recover the body and rescue the three other victims after local Palli Bidyut office disconnected the electricity line.

The injured Rahmatuulah, Sweety and Foyez were taken to Bhola Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead in the evening.
