2 students killed in wall collapse
Keraniganj: Two students were killed when a portion of a wall of a madrasa building collapsed on them at Old Bandura in Nababganj upazila, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Wednesday.
The deceased are Mahmud Hasan, 5, and Rahat, 7. Both of them were class I student of AL-Amin Orphanage and Madrasah.
Anwar, a teacher of the madrasah, said the pilling work for constructing four-storey building of the madrassa is underway.
The incident took place in the area in the afternoon when a portion of a wall of its old building collapsed on the two students as a cable of the pilling machine tore down and fell on the wall, leaving the due dead on the spot.
Madrassa Principal Professor Mufti Alamin said the construction work has been conducted by Shonar Bangla Soil and Consulting Engineers. He also blamed the construction company for the incident.
Abul Bashar, sub-inspector of Nababganj Police Station, visited the spot and recovered the two bodies.
Police held the principal of the madrasa for interrogation.
