Banani rape accused Safat, Sakif confess to crime
Safat Ahmed and Sadman Sakif, the two accused in a case filed over the rape of two private university students in a Banani hotel in the capital, confessed to their crime in their confessional statements at a Dhaka court on Thursday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahsan Habib recorded Safat’s statement while Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Ahsan Chowdhury recorded Sakif’s statement, reports UNB.
Ismat Ara Ame, an inspector of Victim Support Centre and also the investigation officer of the case, produced the duo before the court on completion of their remand.
They were sent to jail after the recording of their statements.
The two university girls were raped at Rainree Hotel on March 28 and police arrested Safat and Sakif in this connection from Sylhet on May 11.
One of the rape victims filed a case with Banani Police Station on May 6 against five people.
