Dhaka: Bangladesh is experiencing a sweltering heat with the mercury soaring to 36 degree Celsius in the capital on Sunday.

Besides, power cuts in many parts of the city are worsening the woes of the dwellers.

According to Met office, a heat wave is sweeping across the country and it may continue for four more days.

It said a mild heat wave is sweeping Dhaka and Khulna divisions and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Chandpur, Maizdicourt and Barisal.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's highest temperature 38.0 degree Celsius was recorded on Sunday in Khulna and Jessore while it was 36.0 degrees in the capital.

In the capital, people, including rickshaw-pullers, were facing great difficulties while doing their works amid the scorching heat.

Many preferred to stay indoors to avoid hot weather.

Meanwhile, spells of load-shedding in many parts of the city, including Badda, Rampura, Shantinagar and Malibagh, compounded the sufferings of the city dwellers.

Sadia Tabassum Tanni, a resident of Anandanagar in Badda, said they experienced power cut twice -- first from 1pm and the 2nd one from 5pm with each lasting for one hour -- as of 6pm today.
