Stern action for food adulteration during Ramadan: DSCC mayor
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Monday said stern action will be taken against those involved in selling adulterated food and violating the sanctity of Ramadan in clubs and bars in the city during the holy month.
The DSCC Mayor came up with the warning while talking to reporters after a view exchange meeting with the businessmen on the occasion of Ramadan, held at Nagar Bhaban in the city.
He said a special drive will be conducted in the city corporation area during Ramadan to check food adulteration in restaurants and punitive measures, including fine and imprisonment, will be taken.
He also urged the club and bar owners to maintain purity of Ramadan.
‘Those who will be involved in violating the sanctity of Ramadan will have to undergo a punishment and if any influential or well-known person of the society is found in any unpleasant situation during the drive, the City Corporation will not take the responsibility of that person,’ said Khokon.
Chief Health Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation, members of the Food Safety Authorities, fruit traders associations, restaurant owners, owners of different bar and clubs were present at the meeting.
