HC stays Janata Bank recruitment test activities
The High Court on Monday stayed for three months all activities, including publication of result, of the written test for recruiting Janata Bank’s senior officers.
A two-member HC bench passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by 15 job seekers who appeared at the written test, reports UNB.
The court also issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why its inaction to cancel the test held on April 21 last and look into the allegation of the question paper leakage should not be declared illegal.
The Finance and Law secretaries, Bangladesh Bank governor, Dhaka University vice-chancellor and Bankers’ Selection Committee chairman, among seven, were asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Petitioners’ lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua told reporters that the HC imposed the restriction on all activities of the test, including publication of the result, for three months.
The written test for the senior officer post of the state-run Janata Bank was held in the capital on April 21 last.
Later, 15 candidates filed the writ petition with the High Court bringing an allegation of question paper leak in the test.
