Dhaka: A court here on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of 18 BNP men, including its joint secretaries general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Ruhul Kuddus Talukdar Dulu, in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

M Kamrul Hossain Mollah, judge of the Metropolitan Session's Court, passed the order taking cognisance of the charge-sheet.

The court also scrapped the bail of Sohel as his lawyer did not take any step today, said additional public prosecutor Tapos Kumar Paul.

It ordered the officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station to submit a report on July 7 on the compliance of the arrest warrant.

The court also granted time to BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and joint secretary general Amanullah Aman while it rejected the bail petition of BNP leader Barkatullah Bulu, who is now behind the bars.

According to the case statement, a group of miscreants hurled crude bombs at a passenger-carrying bus and vandalised it in front of Shishu Palli under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on January 24, 2015 during the indefinite blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20 party alliance.

Following the incident, sub-inspector M Tofazzal Hosain of the police station filed a case under the Explosive Substances Act.

On December 31 last, inspector Manirul Islam of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submit the charge sheet accusing 29 people.
