Dhaka: After attending the International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme in Vienna, the capital of Austria, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Wednesday morning.

The VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 7:20am.

High civil and military officials received the Prime Minister at the airport.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Austria and Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the UN offices in Vienna Mohammad Abu Zafar saw the Prime Minister off at Vienna International Airport on Tuesday at 7:00 pm local time.

The prime minister addressed the opening session of the conference titled ‘Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: 60 years and Beyond- Contributing to Development’ Tuesday.

She also held official talks with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Kern and met Austrian Federal President Alexander Van Der Bellen.

Sheikh Hasina had a meeting with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano at his office.

Bangladesh and Austria signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) after the official talks.

Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left for Austria for two-day official visit to attend the ‘International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: 60 Years and Beyond-Contributing to Development’.

A red carpet was rolled out at the Vienna International Airport at 2:30 pm as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in the Austrian capital.

On her arrival at the airport, the Prime Minister was received by State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery Muna Duzdar and Bangladesh Ambassador to Austria and Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the UN offices in Vienna Mohammad Abu Zafar.

During the visit, Sheikh Hasina held official talks with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Kern.

During the talks, Bangladesh and Austria agreed to boost cooperation in the fields of economy, climate change and combating terrorism.

Besides, various global issues, including bilateral cooperation in implementing sustainable development goals (SDGs), migration, refugee crisis, climate change, terrorism came up for discussion during the visit.

The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Foreign Office Consultations (FOC).

On Monday evening, Hasina attended a community event followed by Iftar at Grand Hotel.

On Tuesday, she attended the opening session of the conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: 60 Years and Beyond- Contributing to Development and delivered her speech at Plenary Hall, M Building, Vienna International Centre (VIC), UN Office, in Vienna.

Sheikh Hasina also met Director General of IAEA at his office.
