Dhaka: The High Court on Sunday allowed BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam interim bail in three cases, paving the way for his release from jail.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman passed the order.

‘As Fakhrul has been granted bail in all the cases against him, now there is no obstacle on the way of his release,’ said Barrister Ehsanur Rahman, counsel for Fakhrul.

Earlier on 9 June, the High Court asked the jail authority to admit him to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital for treatment and since then he is in the hospital.

Fakhrul was arrested from in front of Nation Press Club on 6 January and he was in jail since then.
