Parliament showers praise on Tigers
Dhaka: The Speaker of Parliament and some lawmakers on Monday profoundly greeted the Bangladesh cricket team for its Sunday’s historic series win over India.
At the very beginning of Monday’s session, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury hailed the cricket team amid thumping of desks by the lawmakers.
Taking part in an unscheduled discussion later, independent lawmaker Haji M Selim said the whole world is now feeling the strength of Bangladesh cricket team. ‘Our bad days are over, we’ve now stepped into good days. Our leader (PM) is very much fortunate as our cricket team has been the champion in her tenure,’ he said.
Ruling party lawmaker Fazilatun Nesa Bappy said Bangladesh’s golden boys have shaken the world with their roars.
‘There was a conspiracy against us in the World Cup quarterfinals; our Tigers have given a befitting reply to it. Our golden boys shattered the Indian team yesterday,’ said Bappy.
Awami League lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said the Bangladesh Tigers have shown the sharpness of their claws. ‘Insahallah, the victory spree will continue on 24 June by defeating India in the third ODI and give them a ‘Banglawash’, said Taposh.
