Case filed for maligning judiciary
Dhaka: The Supreme Court (SC) administration on Sunday filed a case against some unidentified people for billeting Chief Justice SK Sinha and the judiciary by posting derogatory remarks by opening a Facebook page.
Abu Bakar Siddique, a court keeper of the SC, filed the case with Shahbag Police Station under section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, 2006, said SC additional registrar Sabbir Foyez.
According to the FIR, one or more unidentified people opened a Facebook page styled 'Swadhin Bichar Bibhag (independent judiciary)' on May 27 last with an evil intention to defame the judiciary and the Chief Justice. "False, fabricated, motivated and provocative and defamatory comments against the judiciary are being posted on the page."
Sabbair said police will track down those involved in such activities to undermine the judiciary.
