Faridpur: A court here on Tuesday sentenced three people to life term imprisonment for killing a minor boy after kidnapping him in the district in 2011.

The lifers are Hemayet Hossain, 26, Akter Munshi, 32 and Shipon Sarder, 26.

According to the prosecution, Taj Mohammad, 8, son of Harun Ur Rashid of Hasamdia area of Boalmari upazila, was kidnapped by the convicts on June 16, 2011. Later his dead body was found in a jute field at Lakkhandia village of Pangsha upazila in Rajbari district two days later.

Taj's father filed a case against five people in this connection.

Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Rafiqul Islam handed down the verdict after examining the records and acquitted two other accused.
