2 killed in clash over building bridge

Sunamganj: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over building a bridge at Basiakhauri village in South Sunamganj upazila on Monday.
The deceased are Arju Miah, in his sixties, and Abul Kalam, in his forties, residents of the village.
The South Sunamganj police said a quarrel took place at about 4:00pm between two groups –one led by Moshahid Khan and another by Nur Ali Miah—over building a bridge in the area.
At one stage, both the groups, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked each other, trigging a clash that left Arju Miah and Abul Kalam dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
Of the injured, 10 were admitted to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
Police arrested two people in connection with the clash.
Additional police members were deployed in the area to quell the unrest.
A case was filed.
