Two siblings to die for killing schoolboy

Pirojpur: A court here on Wednesday sentenced two brothers to death for killing a schoolboy at Adarshapara in Sadar upazila in 2013.

The District and Session's Judge, Md Golam Kibria, awarded the death penalty to Md Nafiz Hasan Nahid, 19, and his elder brother Nazmul Hasan Nayeem, 21, sons of Md Shafiqul Alam Hawladar of Adarsapara, for killing Sadman Sakib Prince.

The court also sentenced them to seven years' imprisonment and fined them Tk 50,000 each on another count in the case.

According to the prosecution, the convicts called Sakib, a Class-X student, to their rented house on August 29 in 2013.

Following an altercation over playing cricket, Nahid hit him in the face and eyes. At one stage, the schoolboy passed out at his head was hit with a cot.

Sensing danger, the two brothers tied the victim's mouth with cloths to ensure his death and later dumped the body into a nearby pond.

Police recovered the body from the pond on August 30.

Victim's father filed a case with Pirojpur Police Station.
