PM pays homage to Bangabandhu on AL’s anniversary
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the 66th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League.
Sheikh Hasina paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi.
After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu.
Flanked by senior leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling party, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of her party.
Awami League Advisory Council members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed and Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Obaidul Quader, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Advocate Sahara Khatun and Satish Chandra Roy, General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Joint Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif and other central leaders of the party were present.
Later, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 66th founding anniversary programmes of Bangladesh Awami League by hoisting the national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons. Party general secretary Syed Ashraful raised the party flag. The national anthem was sung on the occasion.
