6 killed in Bandarban landslides

Bandarban: At least six people including children were killed in incident of landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Sadar upazila of Bandarban early on Tuesday.
The deceased are Mitu Barua, around six years, Shuvo Barua, 8 years old, and Lata Barua, around four years, children of Shuman Barua, residents of Lemujhiripara, Agapara’s Kamrun Nahar, in her twenties, and her 8-year-old daughter Shukhia Akhter, and Reba Tripura, believed to be 18 years, a college student of Kalaghata.
Around five people were also injured during the landslide and taken to hospitals, said the fire fighters.
Fire Service officials said that the incidents occurred early in the morning when a large chunk of mud collapsed on their house while they were asleep.
However, road communication between Bandarban and Chittagong was halted as the Bajaliar Road went underwater due to heavy rainfall.
