Chittagong: Eight people including two children were killed and two others injured in devastating mudslides at Chandanaish and Rangunia upazilas of Chittagong on Monday night.

Chittagong district executive magistrate Masud in a message on Tuesday morning confirmed the casualty occurred following the landslides.

The message said four people were killed as landslide hit at Bogabil in Rajnagar upazila of Rangunia.

However, a man was killed in a lightning strike at Chaktai, said Chittagong Medical College Hospital’s (CMCH) police post sub-inspector (SI) Hamid.

Former chairman of Dhopchhari union council Abu Yusuf Chowdhury told NTV Online landslide occurred on Asgar Ali’s house underneath the hill and left Azgar’s daughter Mahia on the spot.

In another incident, three members of a family including two children were killed as landslide hit their house at Chhanbunia area. The deceased are two children, Keucha Keyang, 10, Memang Keyang, 13, and 50-year-old Mokaing Keyang.

Two others, named Sanu Keyan, in his twenties, and Belau Keyan, around 28 years, were injured during them mudslide and taken to Bandarban Hospital, said the former UC chairman.
