Comilla: Ten people were burnt in a fire incident caused by gas cylinder explosion at a shop at Gouripur Bazar in Daudkandi upazila on Tuesday night.

Of the injured, five people were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Among them, condition of Saddam was stated to be critical.

The Daudkandi police said the fire originated from a gas cylinder blast at the shop of Saudia Refrigerator in the market at about 8:00pm and soon engulfed adjoining four shops, leaving 10 people burnt.

Fire fighters from Daudkandi and Homna fire service stations went in and doused the flame after one and a half hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people.

The affected shop owners claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk30 lakh.
