Fitra fixed at Tk 60
Dhaka: The Islamic Foundation on Wednesday fixed the amounts of Fitra in between Tk60 and Tk1650 during the Eid Ul Fitr this year.
A statement issued from the foundation read, Sadkatul Fitra committee of the foundation fixed the amounts calculating the current market price of food items at a meeting at the conference room of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque with director religious culture affairs wing of the foundation AMM Sirajul Islam.
Muslims with minimal affluence are obligated to offer Firta, or charity gift to the poor ahead of the greatest Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Fitr while according to the foundation’s calculation one would need to offer a minimum amount of Taka 60 to the poor this year.
‘Fitra has been fixed in accordance with the market prices and it can be given either in cash or kind,’ the statement said.
The minimum amount of Fitra last year was Taka 65.
The Fitra is fixed taking into account the market prices of wheat or flour, date, raisin or cheese.
