Mirza Fakhrul’s motorcade attacked, several injured

Chittagong: Miscreants attacked the motorcade of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir near Rangunia in Chittagong on his way to Rangamati on Sunday morning.
Several central leaders of the party including Mirza Fakhrul, Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury were injured as the miscreants vandalised their vehicles.
BNP claimed the leaders and activists of ruling party are involved with the attack.
President of Rangamati district BNP Hazi Mohammad Shah Alam said the attack took place near the Isakhali area of Rangunia at about 10:30am.
Rangamati’s BNP leader said a team of BNP led by its secretary general was travelling to Rangamati to console and support the victims of landslide there. A group of miscreants attack them when the motorcade reached Isakhali.
However, any statement of police in this connection could not be found yet. The BNP delegate team cancelled their drive to Rangamati and returned back to Chittangong city after the incident.
BNP claimed followers of Awami League leader Hassan Mahmud swooped on the motorcade and vandalised the vehicles, which left several BNP leaders injured with the broken pieces of window glass.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam will hold a press conference in Chittagong about the attack, said BNP leader Hazi Mohammad Shah Alam.
At least 158 people were died as landslides hit Rangamati, Bandarban, and Chittagong due to heavy rainfall.
