River Khowai in Habiganj flowing 124cm above danger line
Habiganj: The water of River Khowai of Habiganj was flowing 124 centimeters above the danger level on Monday night.
According to sources at the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) Khowai River was flowing above the danger level till filing of the report at 11:00pm due to fresh spell of rainfall over the last few days and onrush of waters from upstream hilly areas of Tripura, worsening the flood condition of the district.
Flood protection embankment of the district town is at a high risk of floodwaters damage at Tetuiwa, Kamrapur, Moshajan points.
The district administration is putting its highest effort to protect the flood control dam by dumping bags in the water.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Shah Jahan Kabir urged the townsmen to stay alert to the probable damage of the embankment.
All officials of the district administration were asked to keep themselves updated with the latest flood situation, he added.
