No unfit vehicle to ply on highway during Eid vacation: Quader
Gazipur: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said in Gazipur on Tuesday no unfit vehicles and those without route permit will be allowed to ply on the highway during the Eid vacation.
The minister made the remarks while visiting the condition of the Dhaka‐Mymensingh Highway ahead of the Eid at Targachh area in Gazipur.
He further said the homebound holiday makers have been suffering on the way as a few places of the highways were damaged due to heavy rainfall in the last few days.
Obaidul Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, said the government and Roads and Highways authority are trying to make people’s journey smooth and comfortable.
He requested his party men to help law enforcers as volunteers reduce traffic jam.
The minister also said the ministry officials and departments concerned will work till Eid day to ensure Eid journey comfortable.
He also ordered to stop movement of all kinds of trucks and lorries on the highways for three days of Eid vacation.
Besides, Quader requested the readymade garments factory owners to give the Eid vacation of the employee and workers in separate phases to reduce the traffic gridlock.
The high‐ups of RHD and highway police were also present in Gazipur.
