Dhaka: A court here on Tuesday deferred until July 16 the charge framing hearing in blogger Ananta Bijoy Das murder case.

Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha fixed the date again as police failed to produce any accused in the case today, said public prosecutor Mafur Ali.

Earlier on May 9, the same court accepted the charge sheet submitted by police against the six accused in the case.

The charge sheeted accused are -- Abul Hossain, 25; Foysal Ahmed, 27; Harunur Rashid, 25; Mannan Yahiya alias Mannan Rahi alias AB Mannan Yahia alias Ibne Moin, 24; Abul Khayer Rashid Ahmed, 24 and Shafiur Rahman Farabi, 30.

Of the six accused, Mannan Rahi, Rashid Ahmed and Farabi are in the jail while the others remained fugitive.

On January 18 last, Arman Ali, Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), submitted the supplementary charge sheet against the six accused and exempted 10 others, including journalist Idris, from the case.

Blogger Ananta, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Manch, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on May 12, 2015.

On the following day (May 13), Ratneshwar Das, elder brother of Ananta, filed a case against four people with the Airport Police Station.
