Chittagong: A foreign student of University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) has been violated allegedly by a super shop employee in the port city.

Police have arrested the alleged rapist, Arifur Rahamn, 25, an employee of super shop 'Khulshi Math' situated near the university, after a case was filed over the incident.

Officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station Sheikh M Nasir Uddin said the girl, a 17-year-old Sri Lankan national, had been in good terms with Arifur.

Arifur took her to a hotel in the area on Sunday night and raped her there, the OC said quoting the girl.

The female student filed a case against him on Monday afternoon.

Following the case, a team of police arrested Arifur from Ambagan area of the city on Tuesday morning, said the OC.

Meanwhile, a Chittagong court sent the alleged rapist to jail after he was produced before it, added the police official.
