Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight suspected muggers from Dhaka's New Market area on Wednesday.

The arrestees are M Shahid, 26, M Jewel, 26, Akash, 22, Masud Rana, 25, M Babul, 30, M Shahid, 42, M Mostafa alias Apurba, 18, and Liton Mia, 30.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees disclosed that they had been involved in snatching valuables from Eid shoppers at different shopping malls in the city.

The arrestees also admitted that they used to do such crime for purchasing drugs, said an official of RAB-2.
