Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) caught two land officials from Khulna city red-handed while taking bribe.

A team of ACC's Khulna office arrested assistant settlement officer Syed Shafiul Alam and chainman Dusta Mohammad Bulbul of Chitalmari Upazila Land Office (Bagerhat) from New Market area of Khulna city on Wednesday evening, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB on Thursday.

According to ACC officials, one Azizur Rahman recently went to the local land office to have a land document, but the arrestees demanded Tk 3 lakh from him for the job. Later, they agreed to do their work at Tk 75,000 and Azizul was forced to give them Tk 5,000 in advance.

The victim then submitted a written compliant against the land officials with the ACC's Khulna office.

In consultation with the ACC officials, the plaintiff went to the land office on Wednesday evening again to give the land officials bribe money of Tk 20,000 as the second installment.

While receiving the money, an undercover ACC team caught them red-handed.

Later, in the day, the ACC filed a case against the arrestees with Sonadanga Sadar Police Station in connection with this incident.
