Medical staffs of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital confined Raozan upazila chairman for two hours at the hospital on Saturday night for assaulting a female intern doctor.

Doctor Mujibul Haque Khan, president of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip), said that upazila chairman Hasanul Haider Chowdhury Babul assaulted the female intern doctor when he came to the hospital for visiting a patient at night, reports UNB.

Hearing screaming of the intern doctor, other doctors, nurses and staffs rushed in and detained the chairman.

Later, doctors of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Swachip, and BCL leaders took a written statement from the chairman and released him after two hours of confinement.

The accused chairman claimed that he agitated as there was no duty doctor while he came to visit his patient in the hospital. Later, the intern doctors insulted him.
