Dhaka: At least 13 cattle, five goats and one sheep were burnt alive when a devastating fire broke out at the Gabtoli cattle market in Dhaka on Thursday.

Enayet Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service control room, said the fire originated from electric short-circuit at a shed of the cattle market around 10:00 am and spread soon.

On information, five firefighting units went to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 11:25am.

The fire also gutted three sheds of the cattle market.

The affected owners claimed that the estimated loss caused by the fire is Tk 20 lakh.
