Businessman rescued, 5 alleged kidnappers held

Dhaka: Police have rescued an abducted businessman and arrested five alleged kidnappers from Fulbaria of Turagh area in Dhaka.

The rescued businessman is Mukhlesur Rahman.

Briefing reporters at the Tejgaon DC’s office, Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker, on Monday said Mukhlesur Rahman's cousin registered a general diary (GD) with Adabar police station on 27 June mentioning that Mukhles had been missing since 25 June, and unidentified kidnappers were demanding Tk 30 lakh as ransom over phone.

Adabar thana police started investigation into the matter and finally identified the position of the kidnappers using information technology, the DC (Tejgaon Division) said.

Later, a special team of Adabar thana police conducted a drive at Fulpur area on Sunday afternoon and rescued the businessman Mukhles, and arrested the five kidnappers, he said, adding that the police also recovered Tk 23,000 out of Tk 1.56 lakh which was snatched from Mukhles, Biplob Sarker said.

A case was filed with Adabar police station in connection with the incident.
