Six restaurants fined

Dhaka: A mobile court of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday fined six restaurants including relatively posh ones like Kasturi and Banoful finding them keeping and selling adulterated and substandard food items.
A DMP statement said executive magistrate Md Mashiur Rahman conducted the mobile court at Rampur and Khilgaon areas as part of police's anti-adulteration campaign in the capital during the fasting month of Ramadan.
Two of the restaurants–Cafe De Taj, Hotel Al Madina–were fined Taka one lakh each for keeping rotten and date-expired food items, adulterated oil and for unhygienic and unhealthy environment.
According to the statement the four others–Hotel Kasturi, Banaful and Company, CP Five Star and Hotel Taltala–were penalized Taka 50,000 each on nearly identical charges.
