Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as he fell sick.

The BNP leader was taken to the BSMMU from Kashimpur Central Jail on Wednesday night as he complained of chest pain, his son Khandaker Maruf Mosharraf told UNB.

He said Mosharraf has been kept at Incentive Care Unit (ICU) of BSMMU under the supervision of cardiology department Prof Sajal Krishna Banerjee.

Maruf said his father has been suffering from cardiac problem, diabetic and old age complications.

Earlier on 10 May, the BNP leader fell sick as he collapsed in jail washroom.

On 12 March last year, law enforcers arrested Mosharraf in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on charge of money laundering.

The CCC filed the case with Ramna police against him on 6 February, accusing him of laundering around Tk 95 million when he was the health minister in the BNP-led 4-party alliance government in 2001-2006.
