9 restaurants fined in capital

Dhaka: A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday fined nine restaurants in the capital Tk 2.31 lakh for producing low quality food and unhygienic preservation.

The restaurants are—City Cafe, Tusar Hotel, Sunami Iftar Bazar, Sunami Iftar Bazar 2, Hotel Darling Point, Dhanmondi Bhater ghar 1, Dhanmondi Bhater ghar 2, Hazaribagh Bhater ghar and Dhanmondi Cha Ghar.

RAB headquarters officials said a team of RAB 2 led by its deputy director Dr Didarul Alam along with executive magistrate Mohammad Helel Uddin started a drive in the capital’s Dhanmondi area at about 2:00pm.

During the drive, the mobile court found that various types of low grade foods were produced and preserved in dirty and unhealthy condition in those nine restaurants.

The mobile court fined of Tk 50,000 to City Café, Tk 1lakh to Tusar Hotel, Tk 50,000 to Sunami Iftar Bazar, Tk 20,000 to Hotel Darling Point, Tk 3,000 each to Dhanmondi Bhater Ghar-1, Dhanmondi Bhater Ghar-2 and Hazaribagh Bhater Ghar, and Tk 2,000 to Dhanmondi Cha Ghar.
