Keraniganj: Two police members were killed as a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Mawa Highway in Mollarpur area of Keraniganj on Saturday night.

The deceased are Mohammad Mohsin, in his forties, a resident of Shariatpur, also an assistant sub-inspector of Keraniganj Police Station, and Kamrul, in his thirties, a resident of Tangail district, also a constable of the police station.

Mohammad Moniruzzaman, sub-inspector of Keraniganj Police Station said the Ilish Paribahan bus hit the stationary auto-rickshaw carrying three policemen in the area at about 10:00pm while they were on-duty, leaving the two critically injured.

They had stopped their vehicle in the area to help a car that met accident.

Later injured Mohosin was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Kamrul to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.

Mohosin succumbed to his injures at about 12:00am and Kamrul at about 1:30am.

Police seized the bus but the driver and his helper fled the spot.
