Narayanganj: A Dhaka court on Wednesday accepted the charge-sheet in two cases filed in connection with the sensational seven murders in the district.

The district court accepted the charge sheet rejecting the no-confidence petition filed by Selina Islam Beauty, widow of Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, one of the victims of the gruesome killing.

Judicial Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif passed the order accepting the charge-sheet in presence of 32 accused, including three sacked RAB officials—Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana at the courtroom.

On 11 May, Selina Islam filed the naraji petition expressing her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the names of five FIR-enlisted accused from the charge-sheet.

On 8 April, detectives pressed charges against 35 people, including the three sacked RAB officials and Nur Hossain, now in an Indian jail, in connection with the seven murders.

After the murder of seven people, Selina Islam filed a case against six people while Advocate Chandan Sarkar’s son-in-law filed another case.

On 27 April, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj.

Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at District Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.

Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on 30 April. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river.
