Dhaka: Observing that BNP’s existence is now at stake, former President and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday urged his party men to work together to fulfil the vacuum in the political landscape by strengthening it.

‘Now BNP has been suffering from its existence crisis, and the party is unlikely to be able to rebound. There’re will be only two major political parties in the country—Awami league and Jatiya Party,’ he said.

Ershad, also a special envoy to the Prime Minister, came up with the remarks while speaking at an iftar party at a city hotel arranged by Jatiya Party’s Dhaka city north unit.

The Jatiya chief said his party is now stronger than past after crossing many hurdles and difficulties.

‘I request my party members to make Jatiya Party stronger as we’ll join the next polls independently,’ he added.

Jatiya Party presidium member Saifuddin Ahmed Milon and leaders of its associate bodies were present at the iftar party held with party Dhaka city north unit president SM Faisal Chishti in the chair.
