Advance train tickets sale begin

Dhaka: The sale of advance train tickets  to facilitate travelling of the holidaymakers ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr began on Thursday.

The advance train tickets are available at Kamalapur Railway Station since 9:00am and will continue till 5:00pm.
The home bound people are getting tickets for 13 July.

However, Bangladesh Railway will sell tickets for 14 July on Friday. The advance tickets will be sold for five days.

The tickets of 15, 16, and17 July will be sold on 11, 12, and 13 July respectively at Kamalapur and other stations across the country from 9:00am each day.

Hundreds of people packed the station after taking Iftar on Wednesday and stood in queues after Sehri to collect the tickets.

BR will operate 14 special train services including four special train services by the name Solakia special on Eid day.

Other special services will be operated for three days before Eid, from 15 July to 17 July, and for seven days after Eid, from 20 July to 26 July.

The special train services will be operated on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route as Dewanganj special, Chittagong-Chandpur-Chittagong route as Chandpur special, Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur route as Parbatipur special and Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route as Khulna special.

Special train service like Solakia Express also will be operated on Bhairab-Kishorganj-Bhairab route and Mymensingh-Kishorganj-Mymensingh route on Eid day.

Meanwhile, there will be no day-off for the inter-city train services from 13 July to the day before Eid.

Bangladesh Railway will connect 169 additional passenger coaches with the existing number of coaches running for facilitating the homebound passengers.

Currently BR transports about 1,80,000 passengers a day. But on the occasion of Eid, initiative has been taken to transport nearly 2,50,000 passengers a day. The BR has taken adequate measures to prevent black-marketing of ticket.
