Dhaka: BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon on Saturday said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are the two flowers on the same stalk, reports UNB.

BNP spokesman said, ‘If any of the two is affected, the other will also get affected. Awami League will be ruined if so BNP is.’

Asaduzzaman made the statement at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office while giving his party’s reaction to the Prime Minister’s remark that a tribunal to be formed to try Khaleda Zia for indulging in subversive acts.

He warned the government that it will not bring anything good for democracy if the government tries to annihilate the opposition implicating them in ‘false’ charges without a fair probe.

Sought his party’s reaction to the removal of Syed Ashraf from LGRD Ministry, the BNP spokesman said they have no reaction to the issue as it is the government’s internal affair.

‘I personally think it’s not appropriate to criticise a man when he is in danger.’ said Ripon.

He, however, said the government should make it clear as to why Ashraf had been made a minister without portfolio.
